Dasha's Birth Back Up
As with so many things in my life, I came into Doula work indirectly. When my sister was born and I was 15, I found myself with a love for the littlest of babies. Graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, I always imagined myself working in a supportive role, helping others navigate trauma, mental health and life's changes. Through a close friend, I was introduced to the concept of doula work, the role of supporting parents through the confusing transition of starting a family, and the seeds of birth work were sown.
Many doulas have already experienced pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for themselves, and can help other women from a place of lived experience. In my case, pregnancy and birth, and the age old question of “how did we get here” has always fascinated me. I was brought up in a family that taught me age appropriate biology, and have been obsessed with the topic ever since. I love that, in a currently childless home, I can drop everything for my families much easier. However I do have wonderful scaley and fuzzy pets at home to keep me company.
I love walking with my families through the maze of pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood. No matter first or fifth, home or in hospital, every birth is a new journey and different than the last. Likewise, every new baby is different and so are the home dynamics for each family. What I love doing is finding the lightness and laughter in each experience, even through pain, lack of sleep, and even loss. Together we will discover new milestones, celebrate the little things and enjoy the human you're raising together.
I hope we can connect soon, and that you'll let me join you on your adventure!
